Born and raised in Newark, NJ, Hydeia Austin is a passionate advocate for educational reform and social justice, dedicating over 13 years to empowering the youth of her community. The very schools that nurtured her also ignited her commitment to effect positive change and provide young people with the tools to thrive.

As the Lead School-Based Employment Specialist Coach for Hudson Community Enterprises-affiliated with Jersey City Public Schools, she designed and implemented pioneering curriculum focused on job exploration, workplace readiness, and self-advocacy. Her innovative approach transformed the lives of countless students across Essex and Hudson County, bridging the gap between education and real-world opportunities.

Transitioning to her current role as Program Manager with Newark Youth Career Pathways (NYCP), Hydeia continues her unwavering dedication to nurturing the potential of young minds. Her vision is clear: to collaborate with community partners, organizations, and individuals to create dynamic and transformative programs that will foster an environment where Newark’s youth can recognize and harness their full potential.
